School Magazine

For my preliminary task i had to produce the Front cover and contents of a school magazine, with a mid shot image on the cover and correctly laid out masthead and cover lines. To do this i created some pencil sketch plans to come up with a good layout. I also did some research on the key convetions of a school magazine.
Conventions of a school/college magazine
  • ·         A clear layout so that the information is easily read on the front       cover.
  • ·         Informative
  • ·         A set colour scheme, this is important for the style of the magazine so that it looks professional.
  • ·         Motivational to make the reader interested in school or college.
  • ·         Relevant topics making sure that the information is appropriate for the age of the reader.
  • ·         Maybe some light hearted humor so that the reader doesn’t feel   that magazine is heavy going.
  • ·         Sophisticated style and language as it is on the subject of a     school it should show a good example to the readers.
  •           Interesting.
  • ·         Good quality photos, not pixelated and.
  • ·         Follows the conventions of media language.
  • ·         Formal/respectful.
  • ·         Subjects the audience can relate to and will be interested in.
  • ·         Up to date information.
I then created a questionnaire for some audience research
School magazine questionnaire
1)    How much would you be prepared to pay for a school/college magazine?
2)   What colour scheme would appeal to you? Name two colours.
3)   How important is it for you to have an equal amount of image to text?
